Raise your hand if you’ve heard of hustling.
Just put your head down and do the work.
Any of this sound familiar?
Okay so maybe you did all that and then realized that it didn’t really work all that well and now you’re feeling burnt out.
Then you probably heard something like…
“It’s not about working harder, it’s about working smarter.”
You go and do that..however you do that and still no results. Or maybe a few results but still not the kind of results you can write home about.
Let me cool you off with the cold hard truth, working harder or smarter will never yield the results that you want.
Alignment is what makes the world go round.
Or your world at least.
So what is this alignment and how does it actually help you?
Well, it helps you in a multitude of ways but first, you have to understand what alignment even is. Because no, it’s not “woo woo”, and is actually based in quantum physics and science.

What Does it Mean to Be In Alignment?
I’m going to be honest, I scoured the internet for the exact definition but struggled to find one that actually made sense.
Essentially, being in alignment means you are aligned with the goals you have.
In your actions, thoughts, behaviors, beliefs, and basically everything you do in your day to day life.
Take a professional athlete.
Their goal is to win the game, throw a certain number of touchdowns, run a certain number of miles, and so forth.
To be in alignment with that goal, they have to think in a certain way.
They have to have beliefs that correlate with their goals.
They have to eat, act, behave and BECOME the version of themselves who has already reached that goal.
There is also a more spiritual meaning behind this and that is to be in alignment with your higher purpose and your life’s purpose, but you read more about that in this article.
This is when this whole “alignment thing” can feel “woo woo” and confusing because how can you show up as someone who has reached your goal if you haven’t yet?
Well as Stephen Covey says in his book, 7 Habits of Highly Influential People, you have to begin with the end in mind.
Simply meaning, get a clear picture of where you’re going, so that you can decide how to get there and then get into alignment with becoming the version of you who has reached that goal.

Everything is Energy
In quantum physics, you learn that everything on this earth is energy.
You, your dog, that adorable bunny rabbit outside, the trees, your kid’s backpack, the food you eat, your next-door neighbor, everything.
On a deeper level, this means that everything is made up of vibrating atoms and they are vibrating so quickly that things appear to be solid.
Going even deeper than that, things appear solid to us and we only see things because we are giving our attention to them. Your brain creates an image of what a chair looks like, so you see a chair.

Alright, so everything physical is energy, great.
But your emotions, thoughts, feelings, beliefs, intentions, also carry energy.
Have you ever been scrolling on social media and stopped in your tracks on someone’s post and then gotten so sucked into what they were saying it was like they were talking directly to your soul?
There could be 101 people all talking about the same thing, but what attracts you to someone is their energy.
It’s the intention they held, the beliefs they had, the emotions they were in when creating the content, this all translated into the energy that is held with what they created.
If you create in a lack, scarcity, frantic, ego-centric emotion, that is what you will attract back to you.
These types of emotions are also out of alignment with your intention.
Creating in alignment feels good, it feels right, it feels exciting.

You Will Always Subconsciously Revert Back to What Aligns with Your Subconscious Beliefs & Identities
We are not born with beliefs of how the world works, they are created and programmed into us over time.
I don’t want to get too sciency on you, but the subconscious mind is the part of your mind that controls well, your subconscious actions and behaviors.
It also houses your beliefs, thoughts, and emotions that are programmed by the people that raised you.
Because your beliefs, thoughts, and emotions are subconscious, you cannot hustle, grind, push, your way to accomplishing your goals in life.
If your subconscious thoughts and beliefs do not align with your goals, you will not reach them.
This is because you will always subconsciously revert back to what does align with your beliefs and identity on a subconscious level.
And this is what is called, self-sabotage.
Think of your subconscious like a computer. It’s programmed with something (thoughts, beliefs, identity) and will run that program until you tell it to stop or reprogram it with something new.
Reprogramming your subconscious mind comes down to understanding the beliefs you currently have, creating new ones that align with your goals and repetition.
When you are hustling and grinding and doing more, working harder, or even working smarter, you’re still only changing the external.
It’s like getting a new computer that has the same program as the old one on it.
You got a new computer, but it’s not the computer that needed to be changed, it was what was programmed into it that needs an upgrade.
Alignment begins on the inside and that’s where you need to start.

How to Get Into Alignment
Getting into alignment requires two things:
- Recognizing where you are and where you want to go
- Getting quiet and taking a step back
No one wants to stop what they’re doing espescaiallly when it feels like we should be doing more. But this is when you SHOULD be taking a step back.
When you dont’ think you need it is when you need it the most.
When you know where you are it’s a lot easier to figure out where you want to go and what you need to do to get there.
And when you become quiet and take a step back, it allows you to ask the questions that will help you get into alignment with the actions you need to take to get there.
Remember, you can’t hustle your way into alignment.
