10 Habits of Successful People

Sharing is caring!

Have you ever wondered about the habits of successful people?

The fact of the matter is, success means something different to everybody, but the questions still remain the same.

What are they doing to be so successful?

How do they get to where they are?

What are their daily habits?

We assume that success only comes to the lucky, the select few or the chosen ones.

Frankly, this just isn’t true.

We are all capable of being successful in our lifetimes if we choose to be.

It just takes a few habits and a solid mindset to get you there.

If you’re chasing success yourself or just curious about the habits of successful people, here are 10 habits of successful people.

Trust me, you’re not going to want to miss this.

10 Habits of Successful People

1. They Take Action.

Action creates clarity.

No matter what they are trying to do or accomplish, successful people know that in order to keep moving forward, they must take action.

This can be one of the scariest parts of trying to pursue anything in life.

How do we know what we should do next if we don’t know what to do next???

The answer lies in simply taking action, any action at all that may get you closer to your goal or at least give you an answer.

The key is to remember that no matter what action you take, you will receive your next steps.

If the action you took didn’t work out, then you now know what not to do.

If it did, then you will know exactly what you should keep focusing on and this is what successful people do very well.

When in doubt, take action.

2. Failure isn’t in their Vocabulary.

Failure is just a made up story we like to tell ourselves to either keep us stuck or to keep us from trying. And this is one word that doesn’t even register with successful people.

If something doesn’t work and let’s just be honest, things probably won’t work the first time, instead of viewing it as a failure and a reason to quit altogether, successful people look for a different solution to the problem.

There will always be problems, and there will always be solutions, what you see simply depends on what you choose to focus on.

Even if it’s just for 24 hours, try and live life like failure doesn’t even exist.

Guaranteed you’ll be delightfully surprised at what you can accomplish when you simply make that small mindset shift.

3. There’s no “I” in Team.¬†

As it turns out, those overdone motivational posters with penguins cheering each other on plastered in every office building ever are actually a pretty big key to success.

Successful people know what they’re good at and choose to focus on those things and outsource the rest.

This is why it’s quite rare to see someone who has become successful all by selves, with no help from anyone, ever.

Because if we’re trying to do everything, we won’t achieve anything.

Put that on your motivation poster!

But seriously.

People that are successful have a very clear understanding of what tasks they need to be doing and what tasks other people need to be doing.

If you hate editing or creating marketing graphics and your time is better spent writing, let a professional work on your editing and graphics.

This gives you more time to put your focus on what you need to be doing.

And will increase your chance of success a whole heck of a lot quicker than trying to do everything alone.

4. Catch some Zzz’s.

The biggest misconception about being successful is that you have to hustle hard, grind till’ your teeth fall out and brag about catching three hours of sleep every night.

Successful people know the importance of a solid nights sleep.

They also know they need to be fully awake and alert to make the best decisions possible.

Sleep is really really important.

It’s 2019, we know we don’t need to hustle and grind to be successful and we also know that sleep is seriously important for our health and mental wellbeing.

When you know better, you do better.

And, if you want to show up as your best self on a daily basis, become successful in your life and avoid looking like a zombie from the “Walking Dead”, then you’re going to need at least 7-8 hours of solid, blissful sleep.

5. Successful People make a habit of Living with Intent and Purpose.

Everything successful people do is intentional and has a purpose behind it.

Even if that intention is to sit with your legs crossed and eyes closed for 10 minutes.

Or watching youtube videos for three hours for the simple purpose of relaxing and giving yourself a little self-care.

When we don’t have an intention behind what we’re doing we can fall into the trap of “just doing it because everyone else is.”

Well, who cares what everyone else is doing.

Successful people do things that align with their goals, not other people’s.

Move with a purpose, take action with a purpose, relax with a purpose, live with a purpose.

6. The Best Investment you could ever make is In Yourself

Hooray, more cliche things!

But for real, successful people are simply not afraid to invest in themselves.

This means reading daily, listening to podcasts, taking time off to practice self-care, outsourcing, hiring coaches, whatever, the list literally goes on and on.

We are very fortunate to live in a time when you can google, “how to start a million dollar business” and “the lyrics to Wannabe by the Spice Girls” all in one breath.

This means everything we’ve ever wanted to know is right at our fingertips.

Do you need a course to be successful?

Do you need fancy equipment, an agent, a storefront or whatever the heck else to be successful?

No, probably not.

All you need is the desire for more.

More knowledge on whatever thing you’re after to be successful, more drive to learn and more desire to be open to all possibilities.

Bottom line, invest in yourself today for a better tomorrow.

7. Successful People are Goal Oriented

If you don’t know where you’re going, you’re going to have a heck of a time trying to get there.

While the goals may and probably will change along the way, the point is to at least have an end goal in mind.

Writing down goals no matter how big or small will help you decide what actions to take.

I like to start with my end goal in mind, then write monthly tasks that I know will help me get to that goal, then weekly tasks and finally daily tasks.

Doing this breaks down my goals into bite-sized actions.

And as you already know, action creates clarity which is just another habit of successful people.

8. Successful People Know the Importance of both Physical and Mental Health

Both physical health and mental health are at the top of the list of non-negotiables for successful people.

This isn’t about “looking good in a bikini for summer”.

It’s about being able to show up as your best self on a daily basis.

Exercising your mind as well as your body is extremely important for overall health, but I’m sure you already knew that.

What you may not know is that successful people put a focus on meditation, affirmations, visualization and having a positive mindset to help them get to where they want to go.

Because when you have a clear mind you can do anything.

All of these things combined can help you feel your best and when you feel your best, you show up as your best and that my friend is success in a nutshell.

9. Reduce Distractions

You’re probably thinking this is a no brainer and it is but there’s a twist.

Successful people reduce distractions when they’re focused on their goal of course but I’m also talking about reducing distractions or people, places and things that don’t resonate with their goals.

This might sound harsh but hear me out.

As humans, we are taught that being in a group is a good thing, that conforming to what others are doing is how we stay alive.

This can mean we take on the personalities and traits of the people we hang out with.

Simply put, if you want to be successful, hang out with people that are successful. Digest content of people that are successful and let the rest go.

If you’re the smartest person in the room find a new room.

If you’re the most successful person in your friend group, get a new group of friends.

And yes, this even means unfollowing people on social media who no longer resonate with you and your goals.

10.  Leap into the Unknown with Tenacity

Leap and the net will appear – John Burroughs.

You’ve heard it, I’ve heard it, heck, your dogs heard it but do we do it?

Here’s the thing about successful people, they jump into the unknown and they do it all the time. They leap without knowing if it will work out, without a net to catch them but they do it with the tenacity to keep going regardless of the outcome.

That’s the thing about being successful, you have to go after it the tenacity of a dog chasing the mailman.

No matter how successful someone is, there will always be something that scares them.

But they do it anyway.

And they do it trusting that no matter the outcome, they will figure out what to do next.

It’s scary, it’s hard, it’s thrilling, it’s success.

If there’s one habit that all successful people have, it’s that they go after what they want, they “fail”, they try again, they “fail” some more, but they keep trying.

Stop waiting for the net to appear, because it never will.

Stop waiting for the validation to take the next step because you’ve already given yourself the validation you need.

You are the only one who Decides if you’re Successful or Not

Success is a decision made by you and you only.

If you want it, create the habits that will get you there, in whatever way success means to you.
